Singaporeans growing up in the sixties will no doubt remember their excitement during childhood when the wayang comes to town!

Our company founder, the late Mr Yeoh Liew Kung, is regarded as one of the key players in the development of Teochew opera in China and Southeast Asia.

Due to the redevelopment plan of Tai Seng Industrial Estate, the company purchased and relocated to its own property at Kaki Bukit View in Dec 2018. With this move, Tai Tong Ah took the opportunity to expand the production capacity at the new site with a total investment of more than $1 million.

Ask anyone from Singapore’s Pioneer or Merdeka Generation, and they would have fond memories of seeing this brightly painted Kombi van in their kampongs in the evenings, with its iconic speakers extolling the benefits of the Double Prawn Brand Herbal Oil in the sing-song Teochew dialect.

In the early days, production was done by hand at home. In 1979, the company moved into its first factory in Genting Lane, and then in 1993, relocated to Pasir Panjang Industrial Park. 14 years later, the company moved to the Tai Seng Industrial Estate in Oct 2007. The new facility was set up according to the international standard of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for pharmaceutical plant.

In addition to the semi-automation project for the filling process, another major improvement was made around the same time in the 90’s.

One major milestone was when the company brought in the first set of semi-automated filling machines into the manufacturing plant at the Pasir Panjang Industrial Park in the 90s.
